Morning!
1| Exciting News! I am an Aunt!!!! Ryan's sister had her first baby. His name is Palmer and he arrived last night.
2| Purchases made from  shop memento: A monogrammed watch (The Charleston Stacked Bracelet Set)
I think Resse Witherspoon said it best when she said, "If its not moving....monogram it."
"My rule is, if it's not moving... monogram it." Reese Withersppon
3| My other purchase is a purse from C Wonder. Sadly they now closed. I sure am glad I was able to find out in time to buy my purse.
4|Tomorrow I have a lunch date with my mom and sister. We have not gotten lunch in a long while, so it will be nice.

5| As usual, looking forward to a nice weekend just relaxing with Ryan.

Hominy Grill

Coming home to Ryan is always the best part of my day and today he had a little surprise waiting for me. He knew how much I loved Hominy Grill while we were in Charleston, SC, so he ordered me the recipe book. I am so excited to try all of the yummy recipes. It was also signed by Chef Robert Stehling. I have such an amazing fiancĂ©!

Five on Friday Link Up

1| Ryan's aunt is amazing at knitting anything and everything. Last Christmas she made me mittens that I absolutely love, which is why I was thrilled when  I received a pair of handmade boots cuffs in the mail yesterday. I was even more surprised when she told me the buttons were made from deer antler. She never misses a detail.

2| What girl doesn't love something that can be monogrammed? I have been ordering a ton of things that can be monogrammed, and since I am getting married I get to use my soon-to-be initials. One of my most recent monogrammed purchases is my cell phone case I got from Paper Concierge.

3| Much like number two, Ryan's sister got me a purse with my soon-to-be initials that I posted on Pinterest a while back.

4| Exciting News!! We sent our Save the Dates! I posted our save the dates and some engagements photos a while back.

5| Girls weekend at the beach! I come from a family of ALL girls. We have one Uncle who has girls (I am hoping I can brake the all girl cycle one day). Anyways, every January all of the girls spend a weekend at my Aunt's condo at the beach. It is never a dull moment.

DIY Flanel Blanket Scarf

If you have read any of my previous post you'll know that I love DIY project and crafty things, so this is another quick and easy DIY project that is great for the winter. I have been wanting to buy a flannel blanket scarf but I thought I would give it a try and make my own, plus it saves from money.
I went to Hobby Lobby- my  kryptonite- and found a plaid flannel pattern that I liked. If you are addicted to Hobby Lobby like I am, then you should know that they always have a  40% off coupon on one item that is not on sale. You can also get the Hobby lobby app on your phone and use that. I was able to get two yards of flannel for just under $6, not too bad!

what you will need:
2 yards of flannel
fabric scissors
Steps:
cut about 2 inches off of each side
grab the loose threads and simply pull
Pull until the edges start to fringe

{This is 2 yards folded over to make it easier to cut the edges}

I have small fridges, but mainly because I got tired of pulling. I am hoping that over time it will fringe more.

I will keep pulling and hopefully have a better picture to post soon.

{I was having some trouble getting a hold of the stray pieces, so I used a safety pin to pull up threads to fringe}

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to wear a flannel blanket scarf another way? I would love to hear from you!

Charleston, South Carolina

It feels good to be back on my blog after my long break.  I was extremely busy with finals, graduation and enjoying Christmas in our new home and with our family.
A few blogs back I mentioned our weekend vacation to Charleston, SC in November, it was amazing! Whoever said Disney was the greatest place on Earth clearly has never been to Charleston, SC. For starters, I love, and I mean love, my Southern cooking. Which is why Ryan and I never go to a chain restaurant when traveling to some place new and we always like to find places off the beaten path or places the locals love. Everywhere we ate, we LOVED and will definitely be going back to visit.
Hominy Grill
207 Rutledge Avenue, Charleston, SC 29403
Ryan and I split the Fired Chicken Basket and the Pimento Cheese Sandwich and of course we had a nice big glass of Sweet Tea. We could not have been more pleased with the people, food and atmosphere.
Toast
155 Meeting St Charleston, SC 29401
We ate breakfast here and it was probably one of the best we have ever had. Ryan wanted to go back for lunch and dinner, it was that good.
King Street Grille
304 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403
Amazing burgers!
Jestine's Kitchen
251 Meeting St. Charleston, SC
We had the fired chicken basket, cornbread and meatloaf. This was probably our favorite place to eat. We love fried chicken and have never had fried chicken this good! In my opinion, this is a must eat place.
Nick's Bar-B-Q
288 King Street, Charleston, SC 29401
We had the bar-b-q pulled port and fried catfish. At one point we were so full, but we kept eating because it was too good to stop.
Cupcake Down South
433 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403
Properly some of the best cupcakes we have ever had and it was the cutest little shop!
Market Street Sweets
100 N. Market Street, Charleston, SC 29401
If you love chestnut pralines, then this is a must stop place.
We also took a boat out to Ft. Sumter, which was pretty amazing to see where the Civil War started. But I think we just had an amazing time walking all around the beautiful city with absolutely no agenda. Everyday we just got up and starting walking and stopped in random stores and places to eat. All of the locals were extremely pleasant and we enjoyed just talking to them.
